What a day and the rain held off!!!  There was a fish in it between the top two and third could have done with two lumps... and then there was the lost fish (as always)!!

2008 Fish O Les Thompson

Les Thompson (pictured above - a bigger picture is in our Gallery under Match Catches) won it with 157lb from peg 15 (the other point on the Pleasure Lake) and 2nd was Simon Colclough (pictured below) with 144lb from peg 7 (Pleasure Lake again).

Both anglers fished an awesome match. Considering Simon started off by casting and breaking his waggler so he had to set up again he did quite well!!   They both caught on the pellet waggler fishing our 8mm pellet.

Kieron Rich - I'll never take your word again!!  For the man who said he had 80lb off the Top Lake on peg 13 and at the finish had weighed 121lb!!! Well done mate - Kieron came 4th overall!  Again catching on the pellet wag.

2008 Fish O Jim Barrowman Fishing2008 Fish O Jim Barrowman with Fish

3rd overall was Jim Barrowman (pictured above) with 137lb 6ozs from peg 2 on Colton, he caught feeding caster with maggot hookbait. The fish were all in one area on this lake as the guy opposite on peg 17, Ashley Prestidge (pictured below)  had 111lb 2ozs, Nathan Watson was the next weight on peg 4 catching 76lb 8ozs.

The two photos above of Jim and Ashley with fish were kindly taken by Mark Casto who's the Match Secretary of Bungay Cherry Tree Angling Club.

Willow - unlike my predication as it had been fishing consistently, didn't really perform.  The top weight was local Oddfellows AC angler Dean Mason on peg 8 with 61lb 02ozs who fished up in the water on pellet.  Angling Times were with Dean on the day - so check out next week's edition.  Next weight on the lake was Robert Tilbury on peg 24 who had 54lb, third was Daniel Brydon (Barford Tackle shop manager) on peg 21 and had 47lb 15ozs.

The pictures below are courtesy of Angling Times.  Check next week's edition to see how Dean won the lake.  You can see the bigger version of these shots on our Gallery under Match Catches or click here.

Railway was consistent but just not quite enough on the day.  Top weight was by Adam Richards, who fished a good match on peg 12 and he had 88lb.  The next weight was Glen Williamson on peg 14 with 56lb 14ozs.

 2008 Fish O Matt Hall

The top weight on the Match Lake was from peg 2, Matt Hall (pictured above having a chat with the Sky crew) who had 92lb 13ozs who caught mostly up in the water on pole and then on waggler, all on pellet.  2nd on the lake was Jonathon Clegg peg 30 with 68lb 14ozs and third was Dave Reeve on peg 1 with 61lb 14ozs.   At one point the Match Lake looked like pellet wag alley with the amount of pellet wagglers out there!!

Well done to all and many thanks for respecting our rules - a lot of thought goes into them on fish welfare, water quality and creating a level playing field.   I hope all who came enjoyed the fishery and thanks to Bob for doing the updates - hope all you Total-Fishing guys enjoyed it too!!

2008 Fish O The end

And just to add on a final note - It was lovely to see all the faces that we see on Fish-O-Mania - lovely bunch of guys (and girls!).

Daniel has put together an overview of how the lakes are fishing and on what methods.

Click here to view methods and baits that have been working

Don't forget you can find views from the pegs on our complex on our Gallery section. Each lake (apart from Colton) has an aerial view on its Gallery pages. Click here to go to the Gallery.

I will endeavor to put the Match results up as soon as I receive them.  Most of the weekend results come in to us on Monday/Tuesday.

Spectators on the Day

I have been asked if spectators are allowed and if there would be any restrictions. Yes to both and the areas that are restricted due to disturbance of anglers can be found below. Please note only the car park side of Colton can be walked.

Fish-O Pegs 2008

(Edited by: Sarah Thomson, 9th April 2008 16:01PM)

It's much the same pegs as previous years although we have now taken out pegs 1 and 2 on the Pleasure Lake and added them to the Match Lake.   There will again be one split section between the Match and Pleasure Lakes (unavoidable I'm afraid).

We have also had some input as to how the sections will be, which should make it fairer on section payouts (Colton and Willow mainly).  I suppose you're all there to win the match - but unfortunately 129 of you won't!!

The draw is at 9am (at Barford) and we will have a catering van on site in the morning and afternoon.  The gate will probably open around 7.30am.

For directions please click here.  For SatNav people the postcode is NR9 4BJ, although we are kind of inbetween two postcodes - so keep an eye out for the blue sign at the end of the drive!!

The pegs we will be using are as follows.  I have put them in their relevant sections.   If you click on the name of the lake it will take you to that page on the site, where you can view peg plans and it has the depths on there too.

Anglers without a ticket - Mick Turner (NFA) will work strictly to the official reserves list. All anglers who have applied are on the reserve list and he will work to order of the list according to who is there.  After any spaces are filled with official reserves he will then offer places to anglers waiting on a first come first served basis.  We had 10 spaces to fill last year - and they were!

See you all next Wednesday!!!!
