Cafe opening times and winter day ticket prices

Next Gold and Silver match on 3rd December.
THE CAFE WILL CLOSE now for the winter and we'll just open for events and bookings of more than 10 breakfasts. Many thanks to all who have supported it this year.
The cafe is next open this Sunday 13th November and then Saturday 3rd December (open from 7.30am) for the Gold and Silver match.
We will re-open the cafe properly on Fish-O-Mania - Saturday 15th April.
We are now on winter prices at Barford - £7 for the day rather than £8.
Kevin Ford - Choppy's Memorial Match 2016

52 anglers fished Choppy’s memorial match on Saturday 22nd October. Due to numbers, we fished all the lakes at Barford and Colton Lake.
All the peg fees were donated into a fund for a defibrillator to be kept at the lakes at Barford. Big thnaks to all involved and cheers to the generosity of the anglers who couldn’t make the match but donated towards the fund. Special thanks to Phil Nichols from Lacons angling club who started the ball rolling with a donation of £200 and many thanks to their club the Lacons AC who whipped round and donated £30.

Thanks so much to Kevin’s partner for 8 years, Tracey Davis. It was a hard day for all involved, especially Tracey, but between her, her Mum and her friend, Stella there was a great spread for the anglers at the end with sausage rolls, sandwiches and homemade cakes. The café gave everyone a free bacon/sausage bap and teas in the morning and their food at the end was welcomed by all who fished.
We’re currently sourcing a defibrillator and will keep you posted when it will arrive.

Now for the results. I’m sure Kevin would have been watching (there always seems to be a rainbow when we talk of him and there was that morning!), he would have been pleased to see our next door neighbour Paul Gardiner win the match overall from Colton Lake. Paul has known Kevin for as long as we have and was a good friend so everyone thought he was a fitting winner for the first match in Choppy’s honour.
Paul’s name will be the first on the shield and we hope to fish a match each year in his memory. The beautiful shield was made by Dave Jarvis, many thanks Dave! Paul had a keepsake glass tankard for his efforts which he supped beer from that night in the pub – Cheers Choppy – we miss ya x
