We're offering anglers participating in the Take a Friend Fishing
scheme an hour’s free training to get them started. Sessions must be booked in. The fishery is offering 2 for one fishing with
any validated rod licence voucher
Taking someone fishing for the first time can be extremely
rewarding, sharing their first experience of the sport. We aim to help with the technical bits
by teaching them the basics before they join you on your peg for a day's
fishing. We
hope that you will be letting your friend borrow your fishing tackle. We have limited tackle that can be provided but this must be
booked.
There are vouchers in the angling press or you can print one from their site http://www.takeafriendfishing.co.uk/ and we have copies in the shop so can validate them on site.
You will need to validate the voucher on their website, bring into the tackle shop and you pay for the day ticket and your friend can fish for free on your peg and receive an hour's worth of free coaching.
Contact Sarah on 01603 759624 to book coaching from Tuesday 22nd - Saturday 27th July.
Below is the final result from the evening match series we
ran this summer. There were a total of 6 Wednesday evening matches and the last
one was Wednesday 9th July. 5 anglers entered a league which counted
the best 5 out of the 6 results. Going into the final evening accumulative
weights were very close between Marc Bradford and Robert Walton had 2lb between
them. Kevin Ford though crept in and had 116lb on the last match and went to
win the league!
We ran these matches in conjunction with the Angling Trust’s
Lets Fish programme designed to get people fishing more. We had two pools
structure - £5 and £1 which enabled anglers who don’t normally match fish to
join in.

Many of us are going to Cudmore to support Norfolk angler's Daniel Brydon and Ray King and Suffolk angler Gary Bull in one of angling's greatest matches - Fish-O-Mania.
We are cancelling the open match this Saturday 12th April - the fishery is open for day tickets as normal - so is the cafe.
Good luck guys - Eastern Counties assault!!!!
The evening match this evening will be on the Match Lake. Draw at 5.30pm and the cafe is open at 4.30pm.
Barford Lakes proudly hosted the Angling finals for the
Sainsbury’s Norfolk School Games. All 8
of Norfolk’s School Sports Partnerships entered 2 teams of 3 so 48 young
anglers competed in this Level 3 competition.
The Summer School Games has seen around 2500 young people compete in
various sports over this week. Angling
successfully entered into the games through the work of the County Angling
Action group organised by the Angling Trust (angling’s governing body)
Norfolk’s one of the few School Games to have angling within
the school games structure giving young anglers an opportunity to compete at
county level, some had never represented their School Sports Partnership in
sport.
Sarah Thomson (Barford’s Level II angling coach and tackle
shop manager) “It’s been great that these young anglers has had their sport more mainstreamed by having
it in the School Games structure and very positive for angling be
involved”
