I had this great catch report from Mel Ridley who with his Father, George came over from Kettering for a couple of days fishing.  They fished the Pleasure Lake both days and his email read:

"My dad and I have just spent 2 days (Tuesday and Wednesday) fishing the Pleasure Lake and we had a very good 2 days.

Tuesday we were on pegs 22 and 23 and caught 15 Carp ranging from 5 to 12lb all caught on luncheon meat, waggler on the bottom about 2-3 rod lengths out.

Overnight we stayed at, The Elm Lodge B+B Wymondham, and very nice it was too.

Back to the lake Wednesday on pegs 5 and 6, same tactics but not so many Carp but my dad had an amazing (certainly for us anyway) 17lb 4oz Carp (after a making switch from meat to sweetcorn), it made not only his week but year as well, he reaches the grand old age of 80 in a few months but I’ve never seen him so excited or happy as he was when we weighed it. He hasn't stopped talking about the carp since.

I had 2 Carp but also a 5lb Tench and a 4lb Bream so another excellent day, we also enjoyed a good crack all day with baliff John who was fishing on peg 4, even though he did catch alot more then us!  Even the weather wasnt too bad over both days and any fish we catch we see as a bonus.

So many many thanks to you and all your staff and the Pleasure Lake who once again gave us two amatuer anglers a fanstastic and hugely enjoyable time at wonderful Barford Lakes.  We certainly hope to be able to return again sometime in August or September or even both.

Kind regards
Mel and George Ridley
Kettering"

Dale Thain had a good day on the Top Lake last Thursday 19th July.  He fished peg 11 and ended up with 13 carp between 4 and 7lb, 3 Tench to 5lb and numerous Crucian Carp.

Dale caught on paste or pellet feeding pellet about a rod and a half length out.  Looking forward to another trip with his 8 yr old daughter - which will be her first fishing trip - lets hope she's a chip of the ole block!!

Yesterday Les Palmer came to fish the Pleasure Lake. Les is normally seen on a river (recently after the Bream at Bramerton) but fancied a go at fishing for carp. After a good chat with John our bank steward, Les was armed with some pointers on how to catch a decent carp. Funnily enough his first fish was a Tench - to about 6lb! He was fishing on peg 6 with pellet about a rod length out and he loose fed 6mm pellet little and often. Les kept the fish coming and ended up with 8 carp to 7 and a half pound, 4 decent Tench and 1 Bream - I think he is now hooked! Well he‘s back again today so he’s definitely enjoying it!

Les’ son MIchael  is a photographer and got some great pictures which are below (there are some bigger copies on the Day Ticket Catches section of our gallery). His email address is michaelbpalmer@hotmail.com and he now has a website which is www.michaelpalmer.com
