Evening Match Wednesday at Colton 9th June

Posted by: Sarah Thomson, 10th June 2010 14:01PM

Colton Lake didn't have quite the same sport for anglers as it did last week - possibly down to the variable air pressure and stormy weather.  After doing well in my last couple of matches I obviously had great expectations - as you do at the start of a match, quickly to realize after the first half that this catching fish lark can sometimes prove tricky!

What I thought was a good draw - wasn't!  Had peg 30 with 31 in as well - stacks of fish there at the start.  There was 18 fished and I held my own just about!

Richard on my right caught three but got one in the net and Graham opposite had 3 fish - as did a lot of people.  I had 3 fish so was chuft really.

I was convinced that if I found the fish it would be a matter of feed and catch - but they weren't really having it.  Kept trying each swim for 10 - 15 mins then going onto the next one.  Should have either stuck it out on one line or tried a different bait - because they didn't want the bait I had (pellet and corn).  Note to self must get tin of cameat for my bag as that's what Ray who came second got his on in the last half hour - after he sat and made a rig for it.

But it's a learning curve! I had 19lb 12ozs and opposite had 19lb 2ozs and one next door didn't weigh in.  Beat the anglers next door so pleased with that.  They'd be too worried if I'd caught anymore tee hee!

Evening matches at Colton are each Wednesday drawing at 5pm with fishing from 6pm - 9pm. Please book in before 4.15pm on the day on 01603 759624.
