With reports of it going below freezing tonight we shall be putting the aereators on this evening at Barford and also Railway and Willow.

We had the first open match on Railway for a while yesterday and the results look promising.  Top weight was Paul Ashford with 37lb 8ozs from peg 46 and was Micky Cleere with 27lb 4ozs from peg 40.

The match Lake fished well last Sunday for the Oddfellows Angling Club and maggot seems to be the bait.  Top weight was Terry Gray  with 78lb 10ozs from peg 30.  Second was Joe Carey with 49lb and third was Nat Kopti with 32lb 13ozs.

Weekend open matches are on Saturday on Railway and there may be an open on Willlow Lake on Sunday - ice dependant.  Anglers interested in fishing Sunday should ring the office (01603 759624) on Saturday for a progress report.   As usual please book in for any matches - message on answering machine will do.

We are hoping to get the Teams of 5 Winter League started with the first match being held on Sunday 7th February after having to pospone the first two due to the ice.  I have given Daniel some alternative dates so we can keep the league to 5 matches and he should be in touch with team captains shortly.

Tony Anderson wins 3 times!

The silver fish open match on the Pleasure Lake was won by Tony Anderson (DAD Suffolk) with 39lb 2 ozs from peg 31.  Tony caught mostly skimmers and also won the Fox Match Mania draw in which a placing is pulled out of the draw bag at the end and No1 was drawn.  So Tony will receive £25 of Fox Match product free of charge.

We are also giving away £100 to the top weight of the Silver Fish season and Tony's 39lb tops Lewis' 33lb he got on the first match!  Not a bad day at the office.

Barford is mostly ice free now and we are starting to see a thaw at Railway - but it is still thick in places.

The Winter League has been cancelled for this weekend and we will look to put some extra dates in if possible.

We have started to thaw the lakes at Barford with the aerators.  After many vists from anglers this week desperate to get out and fish we have begun a thawing mission on the lakes at Barford!

The temperature is not due to go below freezing until after the weekend and with the rain today things are looking hopeful. To speed this process up we have put the aerators back on today and it seems to be moving and breaking the ice.

We are hoping to run an open on the Match Lake on Saturday and if the Pleasure Lake becomes free (the ice seems to be thicker on there) we may have some pegs free on there also - but the ice is rather thick on there.

Feeling hopeful about matches this Sunday at Barford but having to keep fingers crossed! I'm afraid we have a little while longer to wait for Railway, Willow and Colton Lake but we'll see what we can do next week after a few milder days.

Hopefully though - game on for Saturday!! Places are limited please do book in on 01603 759624.

Friday 8th January - The battle was lost last night to the ice!  We managed to keep a few pegs free yesterday at Barford but last night's freeze has forced us to quit the losing battle!

As soon as things clear we will put news on the site but there will be no matches this weekendfro sure and watch this space for news of next week.

5th January 2009 - We are iced over everywhere except Barford where the aerators are working hard to keep the lakes fairly ice free. This might be a battle we may lose by the weekend - but we will try!!!

This Saturday's open will be on Barford Lakes - whereever we can get pegs in.

Unfortunately the first match of the Winter League will not go ahead this Sunday 10th January. Railway and Willow are iced over. We shall hope to put a further date in at the end of the series. The next date is Saturday 24th January.

Please give us a call on 01603 759624 to check availability for matches and day tickets and the ice situation.
