Stu Bracey (Dynamite Baits) caught 43lb 8ozs of skimmers at this week's Silver Fish match on the Pleasure Lake on Tuesday 27th January. You can view a better picture in the Gallery section under Match Catches.
He fished peg 4 and fed Barford micro pellets through a toss pot whilst fishing at 14.5 metres on the bottom with a 4mm expanda pellet.
2nd was Tony Anderson (Browning Pownalls) who was on peg 2 and had 33lb 13ozs and another Browning Pownalls angler, Chris Sykes was 3rd with 29lb from peg 18.

After great efforts with aeration to keep Railway and Willow Lake ice free, I'm afraid we have lost the battle against nature on the high numbers on Railway. From pegs 42 - 62 there is ice at least an inch thick which has been impossible to break with the boat!!
As a consequence the open match this Saturday 10th January will be on the Match Lake at Barford. Please note there is also a Silver Fish Open Match on the Pleasure Lake on that Saturday.
The first match of the Teams of 5 Winter League on Sunday 11th January has also been cancelled. This league will now start on Sunday 25th January.
We have though penciled in Sunday 5th April as an option for the last match so the league could still possibly have 5 matches (there would be no Day Tickets at Barford on the 5th April).
Team captains for the Teams of 5 should make sure they contact Daniel on 01603 759624 the week before to ensure the league is commencing on that date.

Nat Kopti fished his Oddfellows AC club match on Willow Lake on Sunday and caught 178lb!
Nat drew peg 27 and caught all his fish on his 13 metre line. Although still feeding a 10 metre line it appeared the fish were very tightly shoaled up on the further swim. And tight they were - Nat couldn't catch 2' to the left or right.
Fishing on the bottom with 3 maggots as hook bait (using bronze and red) he had fish throughout the match ranging from 3lb - 11lb 14ozs. Nat had lost 8 or 9 fish and was very close to the venue record which was 180lb. His bites were quite finicky though with very little movement by the float.
